My father was at the kitchen table reading a paper faced away from me. we never spoke. He never turned around to acknowledge me but I know he could hear me and his wife laughing. I thought to myself I should at least speak to him and acknowledge his presence. In reality I don't speak to him at all. I was in the living room on the couch speaking to his wife who in reality is deceased she and I were laughing and sharing commonalities about recent events in my life and we were reaching a really good understanding and appreciation of each other
Dreams often function as a reflection of our subconscious thoughts and feelings, and your dream appears to touch on themes of communication, connection, and unresolved relationships.
Father’s Presence: Your father sitting at the kitchen table, distant and unresponsive, may symbolize unresolved feelings or a lack of communication in your relationship with him. His physical position, facing away and absorbed in a newspaper, suggests emotional barriers or a sense of detachment. This part of the dream might represent feelings of neglect or a desire for recognition and connection that is unfulfilled in real life.
Acknowledgment: The thought of wanting to speak to him may indicate a yearning for reconciliation or closure in your relationship. It suggests an internal struggle where you recognize the need to connect but feel unable or hesitant to do so. Your awareness that he could hear you but chose not to engage may reflect feelings of frustration and sadness regarding your lack of communication.
Connection with his Wife: The interaction with your father’s deceased wife, in contrast, is warm and engaging. This part of the dream highlights the possibility of connection and understanding that feels supportive and fulfilling. It may represent the parts of your life where you do feel validated and understood, as well as a longing for meaningful relationships that are absent or lacking.
Shared Commonalities: The laughter and shared experiences with his wife might indicate a desire to bridge the gap between your past and present, perhaps showing your subconscious mind processing feelings of grief, loss, or even a desire to continue honoring that connection despite her passing.
Overall, this dream could reflect a mix of feelings about familial relationships, unresolved issues, and a wish for deeper connections. It might be beneficial to explore your emotions related to your father further and consider whether there are avenues for communication or closure that you might want to pursue in waking life.
